After receiving his Bachelor of Arts from Brooklyn College in Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Froum earned his dental doctorate at the New York University College of Dentistry in New York City. He then completed a general dentistry internship at Brooklyn Veterans Administration Hospital in Brooklyn and a periodontal residency at New York Veterans Administration Hospital in New York City.

He now works as a reviewer on the Journal of Periodontology, the International Journal of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry, and the editorial review board of the Middle East Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Froum is also on the research committee of the Academy of Osseointegration, and is a member of the continuing education oversight committee of the American Academy of Periodontology, which recently awarded him the Special Citation Award.
In 2016, Dr. Froum received the prestigious Master Clinician Award from the American Academy of Periodontology. The International College of Dentists also honored him with the award of Fellowship.
